Hello, I’m Shamima, a self-taught contemporary artist, born and raised in Britain with proud Gujarati Indian roots.
Growing up between two rich and vibrant cultures has shaped the way I see the world and, naturally, the way I express myself through art.
I love bringing together the intricate beauty of traditional Indian-inspired patterns with a fresh, modern and sometimes playful twist. For me, art is about celebrating individuality, embracing our differences and having the freedom to express exactly who we are.
My world of colour
I’ve always been drawn to colour, beautiful details and the stories that people carry with them.
Whether I’m creating a bold, expressive portrait, an intricate mandala or something a little more abstract, I enjoy experimenting with patterns, textures and unexpected combinations.
Some of my pieces celebrate confidence and femininity. Others explore culture, identity and emotion. And sometimes, I simply want to create something joyful that makes someone smile.
I believe art doesn’t always need an explanation. Sometimes it just needs to make you feel something.
Beyond the ordinary
Hues & Harmony is my little world of creativity, where heritage meets modern expression and imagination has no boundaries.
Every painting is lovingly created by hand, making each original artwork completely unique.
My hope is that when someone connects with one of my paintings, they see more than just colours on a canvas. They see a story, a feeling or perhaps even a little reflection of themselves.
Because to me, art is freedom. Freedom to create, to feel, to celebrate our roots and to be unapologetically ourselves.
